Dr. Katrina Nicholas is an Assistant Professor in the Speech Language Pathology Program in the School of Education at Nevada State University, the Principal Investigator and Director of the ACTION Lab (Assessing the Communication of Toddlers and Intervening Optimally Now!) and a Nevada state-licensed and ASHA-certified pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. She was formerly an Assistant Professor in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Department at California State University, East Bay. Dr. Nicholas has a PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Psycholinguistics and a clinical Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Arizona. She has over a decade of experience with young children in a variety of research and clinical settings, having worked closely with culturally and linguistically diverse families in Early Intervention services in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Nicholas publishes research studies on applying principles of learning and memory to improve treatment techniques for children with late language emergence and developmental language disorders. Her recent work has been featured in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research; Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools; Child Language Teaching and Therapy; and the Journal of Communication Disorders.
